Annotation.
This scientific article, based on an analysis of scientific literature, Ukrainian legislation, and practical materials, examines the essence and concept of expert knowledge in various fields of legal science and the forms of its generalisation – scientific and legal expertise. Publications that initiated research into these concepts are indicated. It describes existing scientific approaches, judicial practice, and practical examples of problems with using expert knowledge in legal sciences in law enforcement, and tries to give the author’s take on the definitions of «special legal knowledge» and «scientific and legal expertise». The article pays particular attention to the use of expert knowledge in the field of legal sciences to solve practical problems, for which scientific and legal expertise or comprehensive scientific expertise was conducted.
